State Opera was originally built to compete with the National Theatre. Initially called the New German Theater and later on Smetana Theatre. Now it´s known as the Prague State Opera.
It is a beautiful opera filled with ornate balconies. The building was renovated internally in the 1980s but has remained 1800s red plush and crystal chandeliers.
