This movie brings back the iconic character of John Rambo, played by Sylvester Stallone, as a former Green Beret and Vietnam War veteran who is called back to action by his former commander to perform a mission in Vietnam.

The movie starts with Rambo still in prison for his previous actions in the first movie. However, Colonel Samuel Trautman, played by Richard Crenna, offers Rambo a chance for a presidential pardon in exchange for a mission to confirm the existence of POWs in Vietnam. Rambo accepts the offer and is sent back to Vietnam, where he reunites with the people who once betrayed him.

The action sequences are well-choreographed, and the special effects are impressive, especially considering the movie’s age.

What sets Rambo: First Blood Part II apart from other action movies of its time is its social commentary. The movie, much like the First Blood, tackles the issue of Vietnam War veterans and the government’s treatment of them. Rambo is a character who has been through a lot, and the movie shows how the government has failed him and his fellow veterans. This aspect of the movie gives it a deeper meaning and makes it more than just a mindless action flick.

Another notable aspect of the movie is Stallone’s performance as John Rambo. Stallone embodies the character perfectly, delivering a performance that is both intense and emotional. Rambo is a character who has been through a lot, and Stallone does an excellent job of portraying his pain and suffering.

The movie’s supporting cast is also impressive. Richard Crenna does an excellent job as Colonel Trautman, Rambo’s former commander. Crenna’s performance adds depth to the character, and his chemistry with Stallone is excellent. The movie’s villain, Lieutenant Colonel Podovsky, played by Steven Berkoff, is also notable. Berkoff delivers a performance that is both intimidating and villainous. Also, the girl that helps Rambo, a totally cool Co, is played by Julia Nickson. She also played roles in others treasures from the 80s like Magnum P.I., Airwolf and Star Trek. Recently she starred in Ready Player One.

Overall, Rambo: First Blood Part II is a movie that delivers everything you could want from an 80s action movie. The movie has great action sequences, impressive special effects, and a deeper meaning that elevates it beyond just a mindless action flick.
